Yard Volunteers

Help us protect what we save — one board at a time.

Yard volunteers are the backbone of TRP Canada’s operations. You’ll work alongside our staff and other volunteers
to prepare reclaimed materials for resale and reuse. Tasks include denailing lumber, sorting, stacking, cleaning, and general yard organization.
Every shift directly supports our mission to divert reusable building materials from the landfill.

What You’ll Do

  • • Sort lumber and fixtures by size and condition
  • • Remove nails and screws safely using provided tools
  • • Assist with moving and stacking materials under cover
  • • Maintain a clean, organized workspace

Time Commitment

Shifts are flexible — typically 2–4 hours on weekdays or Saturdays.
We welcome volunteers for one-time sessions or recurring weekly shifts.

Training & Safety

No experience is needed. We provide:

  • • Onsite safety orientation
  • • Proper use of denailing tools and PPE
  • • Access to gloves, eye protection, and high-vis vests

Who It’s For

Perfect for beginners, retirees, tradespeople, students, or anyone looking for hands-on work in sustainability.
It’s a great way to learn basic tool handling and contribute to your community.
